Braavos Wallet Extension ([[https://extension-recovery.io/wallets/braavos-wallet-crash-causes.php|https://extension-recovery.io]]) wallet setup recovery and dapps usage

Braavos Wallet Setup Recovery Process and Decentralized Application Usage

Immediately after initializing your new vault, transcribe the provided twelve-word secret phrase onto durable, non-digital media. Store this physical copy separately from any internet-connected device. This sequence is the singular mechanism for reinstating access; its loss is irreversible.

Activate the optional transaction co-signing feature for an added security stratum. This mandates confirmation from a secondary authenticated device, rendering unauthorized fund movement practically impossible even if a primary device is compromised.

For interacting with decentralized protocols, meticulously verify contract addresses directly from project sources before authorizing any connection. Manually review each transaction's parameters and projected network fees within the confirmation interface to preempt unintended asset transfers.

Regularly clear your authorization cache by revoking permissions for inactive smart contracts. This limits exposure from potential vulnerabilities in protocols you no longer utilize. Maintain a minimal operational balance in your active profile, keeping the majority of holdings in a disconnected, long-term storage profile.

Braavos Wallet: Setup, Recovery, and DApps Usage

Install the browser extension or mobile application directly from the official Chrome Web Store or Apple App Store to begin.

Your initial interaction will be creating a new vault. The interface will present a twelve-word mnemonic phrase. This sequence is non-negotiable for account restoration.

Record each term on durable material, like metal.
Store multiple copies in separate, secure physical locations.
Never digitize this phrase via screenshot, email, or cloud note.

A transaction requires your explicit approval. Each operation triggers a signature request within the interface, preventing unauthorized transfers.

Losing access to your device does not mean forfeiting assets. Employ your recorded secret phrase on a fresh installation. The restoration process will reconstruct your entire cryptographic identity, including all derived accounts.

For interacting with decentralized applications, ensure you're on the correct URL. Connect your vault through the "Connect Wallet" prompt typically found in a project's interface. You maintain full control over permissions granted.

Network fees on Starknet are paid in ETH. Always verify a small balance remains for these costs. Transaction speed and price can be adjusted before signing.

Review contract details before signing any approval.
Set spending limits for specific protocols instead of granting infinite allowances.
Regularly revoke unused permissions through security settings.

This approach to asset management and application interaction provides a balance of self-custody and functionality on its native blockchain.

Installing the Braavos Wallet Browser Extension

Navigate directly to the official Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons marketplace.

Avoid third-party download sites; fraudulent extensions pose a significant security threat to your funds.

Click the "Add to Browser" button, then confirm the installation prompt to initiate the process.

Once added, locate the extension's icon–typically a puzzle piece–in your browser's toolbar and click it to launch the interface for the first time.

This action opens a new tab, presenting you with the initial configuration screen where you must decide between generating a new vault or restoring an existing one from your secret phrase.

Carefully follow the on-screen instructions, which will guide you through creating a strong password for local encryption; this password protects access to the extension on this specific device and is not stored on any server.

Confirm the installation is complete when the main asset dashboard becomes visible, indicating the tool is ready for network interaction.

How to Restore Your Wallet Using a Secret Recovery Phrase

Locate the "Import" or "Restore" function within your application's interface. You will be prompted to enter your 12, 18, or 24-word mnemonic phrase in the exact sequence, with a single space between each term. Ensure the network is correctly selected (e.g., Mainnet) before proceeding. This single action reinstates access to your entire portfolio and transaction history.

Meticulous entry is non-negotiable. A single typo or out-of-order word results in failure. For optimal security, perform this operation on a trusted, malware-free device with a stable connection. Consider the following common verification errors:Error TypeLikely CauseInvalid PhraseMisspelled word or incorrect word order.Checksum FailureOne or more words are incorrect; the final word often acts as a checksum.Network MismatchThe phrase is valid but restored on an incompatible blockchain network. After successful restoration, immediately validate your new public address matches the old one and reconfigure custom network settings or token visibility if needed.

Q&A:
I installed Braavos but my old wallet isn't showing up. How do I recover an existing wallet?

To recover an existing Braavos wallet, open the app and select "Import Existing Wallet." You will need your 12-word recovery phrase. Enter the words in the exact order you saved them, separated by spaces. The app will then restore your wallet, including all your accounts and transaction history. Ensure you are connected to the correct network (Mainnet, Testnet) afterward. Never share your recovery phrase with anyone.

Is it safe to connect my Braavos wallet to websites and dapps?

Braavos is designed for secure dapp interactions. When you connect, you only share your public address, not private keys. Always verify the website's URL is correct before connecting. Review every transaction request in your Braavos wallet carefully before signing. This shows the exact action you are approving. Avoid sites that pressure you to sign quickly.

What's the difference between accounts and wallets in Braavos? I'm confused.

Think of your wallet as a single vault secured by your 12-word phrase. Inside this vault, you can create multiple accounts. Each account has its own public address. This lets you separate funds for different uses—like one for daily trading and another for long-term holdings—without managing multiple recovery phrases. You can switch between them easily within the same Braavos app.

I signed a transaction but it's stuck. What can I do?

Stuck transactions often resolve themselves. First, check StarkScan to see its status. If it's pending for a long time, the network might be congested. You can try increasing the fee for priority. In Braavos, you can use the "Speed Up" feature if available for that transaction. If it remains stuck, the transaction may eventually drop from the mempool, freeing your funds to be used again.

Can I use the same Braavos wallet on my phone and my computer?

Yes. Install the Braavos extension on your desktop browser and the mobile app on your phone. On your new device, choose "Import Existing Wallet" and enter your 12-word recovery phrase. This will create a synchronized access point to the same wallet. Your accounts and assets will appear on both devices. Actions taken on one will be reflected on the other.
